Painters of Light. From Divisionism to Futurism

The major exhibition ‘I pittori della luce. Dal Divisionismo al Futurismo’ is at the Mart (Museo d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto) after a very successful run in Madrid.
Absolute masterpieces by artists who marked the birth of modern Italian painting at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century are on view in Rovereto.
This ambitious show features works by great masters like Segantini, Pellizza da Volpedo, Morbelli, Longoni and also Boccioni, Balla, Carrà, Russolo and Severini.
The exhibition recounts the origins and evolution of Divisionism in an open dialogue with Futurism, through a selection of superb pieces from the Mart collections, enriched by important public and private loans.
More than 80 works are on display in six different chronological and thematic sections: Divisionism between the Real and Symbolic; The Light of Nature; The Symbolist Interpretation; A “Painting of Ideas; The Realist Interpretation; Social Commitment; Towards Futurism; Futurist Painting.
Viewers can also admire a masterpiece from the Cariplo Collection: Angelo Morbelli, A Boat on Lake Maggiore, 1915.
